Brad Bergesen stepped back on the mound to face opposing hitters for the first time since taking a line drive off his right shin last summer.

After a long rehab process, in which he also injured his pitching shoulder taping a team commercial, Bergesen debuted with two earned runs scattered over 1 1/3 innings against Pittsburgh. Bergesen allowed three hits and a walk in reaching his 35-pitch plateau.

Yet he wasn't overly impressed.

"I'm disappointed," Bergesen told reporters. "I think it was definitely a positive, getting out there and getting going again, but you never like to go an inning and a third when you're supposed to go two innings, and give up the hits I gave up."

Bergesen struggled with command, throwing just 18 strikes in his 35 pitches.
